Caption"Solar Spectrum.
The section of the solar spectrum displayed here is one of the pioneering high resolution spectra made by Rowland (1885). It shows a very large number of absorbtion lines (Fraunhofer lines). The majority of the lines come from iron; others come from elements such as aluminium, calcium, nickel, magnesium etc."
