Caption
"Painted in 1820 for the King of Bavaria and now in the Alte Pinakotech in Munich. The subject matter possibly derives from a scene in Walter Scott's 'Guy Mannering' of 1815. John Burnet (1784-1868) was a painter and engraver who produced several plates after Wilkie."
