Activity | Alexander Dunlop (1684-1747), principal of Glasgow University, was the son of William Dunlop (1649?-1700) and Elizabeth Mure, and the brother of William Dunlop, Professor of Church History at Edinburgh University. He was born in Carolina. Dunlop was the Librarian at the University of Glasgow, 1703-1707, and was appointed Professor of Greek, 1704. In 1736 he published a Greek Grammar which was used in schools. Dunlop retired in 1742 due to failing eye-sight but retained his salary and house until his death in 1747. |
