|Activity||The Dundas of Ochtertyre family lineage stems from James Dundas WS (1752-1831), 4th son of Ralph Dundas of Manour, Edinburgh, who succeeded to Ochtertyre, Perthshire, on the death of his cousin John Ramsay (d 1814), the son of James Ramsay and Anne, daughter of Ralph Dundas of Manour. On James's death the estate passed to his 2nd son, the Right Hon. Sir David Dundas QC (1799-1877), Solicitor-General in England and Judge Advocate-General, and passed from him to his nephew Capt. James Dundas VC (d 1879), then to his nephew, Cdr Colin MacKenzie Dundas RN JP (1842-1911), and finally to his son, Lt-Colonel James Colin Dundas of Ochtertyre (1883-1966), who died leaving no children. The estate of Ochtertyre is in Kincardine parish, Perthshire and extended to 984 acres.|
William Dundas of Ochtertyre (1796-1842) worked for a period in Bengal Civil Service. In 1816 he travelled in France, Switzerland, Italy, Paris, Geneva and Rome.
