| Activity | Charlotte Sophia (1744-1818), queen of George III, king of England, was the youngest daughter of Charles Lewis, brother of Frederic, third duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Princess Charlotte arrived in England on 7 Sept 1761 and she met and married the king the next day. They were crowned on the 22 Sept. She took no part in the affairs of state. When George III became ill in 1788, and permanently insane in 1810, she cared for him and ran the household. Of the fifteen children she bore, the last three predeceased her.. |
