Activity | Jacobite soldier. Volunteer in Pitsligo's Horse and later Stonywood's regiment. Aged 20 when the Rebellion of 1745 took place. Captured at Battle of Culloden and sent into exile in 1748. He was the eldest son of Andrew Hay of Asleed. He was at one time apprentice to James Hay, WS. His forfeited estate was bought by James Hay, clerk to the signet, his uncle and tutor. |
