ActivityThe Hydro-Electric Development (Scotland) Act, 1943 established the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board responsible for the generation of hydro-electric power. The North of Scotland Hydro-Electricity Board was sanctioned a £100,000 loan by the Electricity Commission in 1947 for administrative and preliminary expenses during the period prior to the commencement of trading operations by the Board. After nationalisation of the Electricity Industry in 1948, the North of Scotland Hydro-Electricity Board continued to exist independently of the National Electricity Board and its area of distribution was extended.
