Brief Description | Custom made wooden box containing specially designed apparatus for illustrating the change in Fabry-Perot fringes as the gap between the flats is changed by a piezo-electric transducer. Designed and made by Dr John Bates and Henry Barber. The base is a substantial steel block, for stability. Identification by Henry Barber. This is a fine example illustrating the trouble that used to be taken to build illustartive apparatus. John Bates designed a long-path ength scanning Fabry-Perot etalon that could work under vacuum or variable amounts of gas. This is also in the collection. |
