Brief DescriptionKylix (wide shallow drinking cup) with open handles, red figured in glazed red clay. Shows on inside youth with head bound with long fillet running. Shows on outside, (1) a symposium with three bearded men reclining on cushions, one holding phiale, one kylix, and one skyphos, youth beside them playing double flute, served by a black slave holding vessel, on each side of him, a pair of boots, on the left small krater (?) and sword, and (2) on the other side a similar scene - symposium - four bearded men reclining on Type B cup (continuous curve)cushions, two men in middle have drinking vessels, the one on right, skyphos, the left a kylix. Beneath kylix, table, and small crater and pair of shoes on right and left.

H. 12 D. rim 31, D. foot 12.6, W. across handles 38.8. Mended. Restored: eye of youth to left on B; interior: left arm of boy, left side chiton, band across chest, centre of thigh.
Interior: reserved line at rim; tondo framed by maeander between lines. Exterior: Undersides of handles and patch of wall behind unglazed. Stem and foot glazed to upper edge of upper toe. Underside unpainted, with painted ring 0.4 from edge.
Interior: youth wearing a chlamys over shoulders and long tasselles ribbon round head, runs left. He holds a wine skin in front of him in his right hand, and double pipes in his right. Inscribed [...]
Exterior; continuous from A to B: Symposium. From below handle A, disposed on single ground line: wreathed man with himation round legs, reclining to right on striped and dotted cushion, empty hands raised; bearded wreathed man reclining on striped cushion, himation over legs, holding cup by handle, demonstrating kottabos throw, in his outstretched right hand, looking over shoulder to right. On the wall, a suspended basket. Bearded wreathed man reclining to right on striped cushion, himation over legs, turning right, holding up skyphos in left hand by its base, right hand to left shoulder. Bearded wreathed man reclining right on striped cushion, legs draped in himation; he turns back left, demonstrating kottabos throw to his companion with right hand, left across his chest. From handle B: clean-shaven man with fillet and himation reclines right on striped cushion, staff leaning behind to left of his head, with a pair of sandals, one frontal one profile, on wall. He turns towards the man to right, right hand to head, the left holding up a skyphos by the base. Suspended basket basket on wall. Wreathed, bearded man reclining to right on striped cushion, facing up, right hand to left, left hand holding a kylix by the stem. No doubt singing. Wreathed clean shaven man, reclining on net patterned cushion, facing left, playing double pipes. In front of his left shoulder, a small black servant standing on the second, lower ground line, facing right, holding a ladle out to the last reclining symposiast, a wreathed, bearded man, reclining on striped cushion, himation over legs, facing left, gesturing with upraised right hand, and holding a phiale in his left. On B inscribed [...]
On the second ground line, in black silhouette, from handle A, a pair of shoes, skyphos, footstool with animal feet, kylix, pair of shoes, pipes case of animal skin, skyphos, pair of boots (one frontal), the black slave, and a pair of boots.
Added red: fillets of men on A and B; interior, wineskin tie.

KYLIX. Inside. Youth holding in right a..., in left two...Head bound with long fillet.
Outside. (1) Symposium. Three bearded men reclining, holding kylix, two handled cup which could not stand unless held by a hand, and [...] Beneath them stand negro servant, and two pair boots, small krater (?), sword. Cushions on which the men lean are striped. Youth plays double flute. (2) Similar scene: four bearded men recliniing. One holds kylix, one kantharos. Beneath two pair small shoes like women's; krater; table; kylix. Peculiar object hangs up at each side of kylix in centre of scene.
