| Brief Description | Container made of a medium sized fat vessel shaped gourd (calabash) in a faded orange-brown colour with matt surface. Stopper made of a section of white-coloured, naturally patterned conus shell with several large shiny red seeds pressed into a dark coloured resin on top. Small white cowrie shells(?) are strung onto plaited vegetable fibre which is wrapped around the neck and knotted to form a small handle. Three of the red seeds are missing. There is a small square mark on the outer side of the gourd, possibly from a now-missing old number sticker. ABDUA number written in white ink centre underside. Used for betel chewing. |
