Brief DescriptionOld label reads 'America, Group II, Class K, No. II. Cranium of Pre-Aztec, found 9ft below surface, Near Azcopotzalco, Mexico, 1917'. Other label reads 'Skull (?) Pre-Aztec, found 9ft below ground in valley of Mexico near Azcopotzalco in 1917. Believed to be of tribe of Tepanecans. Circa AD. 800 - 1000. Presented by Dr J. McPherson. Tampico, Mexico, 1921'. The Tepanec people appear to have been a sister culture of the Aztects wo were based in the Valley of Mexico from the late 12th to early 13th Century.

1923 Catalogue: 'Of Pre-Aztec. Found 9ft. below surface of the ground in a valley near Azcopotzalco in Mexico, 1917. Believed to have been of a tribe of Tapanecans - circa A.D. 800 - A.D, 1000. Presented by Dr. J. Macpherson, Tampico, Mexico in 1921. Face bones and orbital cavities incomplete. Right molar bone absent. Zygomatic arches broken. Sutures partly consolidated. Part of Occipital bone absent'.
