ActivityThe Selkirk Alpine Club was established in 1890 by John Fudge, James Ballantyne (Buccleuch Road) and James Ballantyne (Forest Road). The object of the club was to promote recreation and social intercourse. On 19 March 1898 it adopted a formal constitution which agreed the weekly meetings and annual subscription of sixpence. The entry fee was to be 2/6d and the age limit was to be set at 35 years or over. Members were to vote on proposed members and 5 black balls would be a rejection. By 1898 there were 31 members. The club was still active in 1926.
