ActivityAngus Edward Malise Bontine Cunninghame Graham was born in 1893, son of Commander Charles Elphinstone F. Cunninghame Graham. He was educated at Osborne and Dartmouth and saw his first naval service in HM Yacht Victoria and Albert in 1914. During the First World War he served in the Grand Fleet. He was appointed Rear Admiral in 1945 and Vice Admiral in 1948, and from 1947 to 1951 he was Admiral Superintendent of the dockyards at Rosyth in Fife: for the last two years of the appointment he was also Flag Officer Scotland. He moved to the retired list in 1951, and was promoted to Admiral in 1952. Outside the Royal Navy he was a vice president of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and the National Trust for Scotland, a trustee of the National Library of Scotland, and Justice of the Peace for Dunbartonshire from 1955. He died in 1981.
