ActivityReginald Foskett was born in Retford, Nottinghamshire, in 1909, and was educated at Keble and Cuddesdon Colleges, Oxford. He graduated BA in 1931, MA in 1935, and Ph.D. from Nottingham University in 1957. He began his career in the Anglican church in 1932 as deacon, was fully ordained in 1933, and served as curate and then priest in various Nottinghamshire parishes from 1932 to 1950. He then spent a period in Derbyshire before being appointed Provost to St. Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh, in 1957. In 1967 he moved again, to be Bishop Suffragan of Penrith until his retirement in 1970. He wrote on links between the Scottish and American Episcopal Churches, and on the work and lives of David Livingstone and Dr. John Kirk. He died in 1973.
