ActivityFrank Charles Mears was born in 1880 and educated at George Watson’s School, Edinburgh. He was then apprenticed to H.J. Blanc, RSA, in Edinburgh, in order to train to be an architect. During the First World War he served with the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force from 1916 to 1919. In 1915 he married Norah, daughter of Sir Patrick Geddes, and he collaborated with his father-in-law in the design of the National Library, Jerusalem, and the Scottish Zoological Park. He was architect for Highland Bridges, involved in regional planning and restoration. He died in 1953.
