ActivityBorn in 1898, James Latham McDiarmid Clyde was the eldest son of the 1st. Lord Clyde, PC. He was educated at Edinburgh Academy and Trinity College, Oxford, then at Edinburgh University. He was called to the Scottish Bar in 1925 and became KC (Scotland) in 1936 and Lord Advocate in 1951, holding the post until 1954. He was Conservative MP for North Edinburgh from 1950 to 1954, and was awarded an honorary LLD from Edinburgh University in the same year, with St. Andrews University following in 1955 and Aberdeen University in 1960. He was invited to be Deputy Lieutenant for Kinross in 1965, and also served as Lord Justice General for Scotland and Lord President of the Court of Session. He died in 1975.
