Activity | William McAdam, son of William McAdam (died 1836), succeeded his grandfather, the road reformer John Loudon McAdam shortly after his father’s death. John Loudon McAdam had bought the estate of Sauchrie in Ayrshire, and when William McAdam inherited it, he sold it and replaced it with Ballochmorrie in the same county. At his death it was inherited by his brother Christopher, after which it may have passed to one of Christopher’s daughters. |
