Activity | Arthur Mitchell was born in 1826 and educated in Elgin, Aberdeen University, Paris, Berlin, and Vienna. Qualifying as a doctor, he specialised in mental health and served on various lunacy commissions in Scotland and England. Outside his work, he was interested in antiquities and meteorology, and published on these and on mental health. In 1876 he was appointed Rhind lecturer on archaeology to the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He died in 1909. |
