ActivityWilliam Laughton Lorimer was born in 1885, a son of the manse, in Angus. He was educated at Fettes, Edinburgh, and at Trinity College, Oxford. He was appointed assistant and lecturer in Greek in 1910, and in 1929 he became Reader in Latin at University College, Dundee (then part of St. Andrews University). In 1953 he took the chair of Greek at St. Andrews and remained until his retirement in 1955. He published on Aristotle. He died in 1967.
