ActivityAndrew Fyfe was probably born near Edinburgh in 1754, and was appointed in 1777 dissector to Alexander Monro secundus, Professor of Anatomy at Edinburgh University. As assistant and lecturer he remained in the anatomy department for forty years, becoming a Fellow of the Edinburgh College of Surgeons in 1818. He was considered a worthy but poor lecturer but a good anatomist, and he wrote dry but accurate volumes on anatomy. He died in 1824. Four of his sons followed him into the medical profession.
