Activity | The Edinburgh Union of Journeymen Bookbinders started life in 1814 as a relief fund called the Society of Bookbinders in Edinburgh. In 1822 the Society changed its name to the Edinburgh Union of Journeymen Bookbinders. The Union remained independent from the Bookbinders' Consolidated Union despite repeated talks about amalgamation, until 1872, at which time the Consolidated Union became the Bookbinders and Machine Rulers' Consolidated Union. |
