ActivityJohn Dunlop (b 1915) was born in Winnipeg, Canada, in 1915, but was brought up in Edinburgh and educated at George Watson's College. During the Spanish Civil War, he volunteered to go and fight for the Republican side against Franco's forces and served in the XV International Brigade. He served in the Scot's Guards during the Second World War. Until his retirement he ran a printing company in Edinburgh. He has remained active in monitoring writing in relation to the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939, and has contributed interviews and other pieces about his experiences in Spain to various publications.
