Activity | Dr William Ronald Dodds Fairbairn (1889-1964), consultant in psychological medicine, was born in Edinburgh on 11 August 1889, the son of Thomas Fairbairn and Cecilia Leefe. He was educated at Merchiston Castle School and the Universities of Edinburgh, Manchester, Kiel, Strasbourg and Paris. He served with the army 1915-1918 and was Assistant Physician at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital for Mental Diseases, 1923-1924 and subsequently forged a career in medical psychology. He produced numerous pschological publications. He married, firstly, Mary Ann Gordon (d 1952) and, secondly, Marion Frances Archer. He died on 31 December 1964. |
