ActivityReverend George Lawson (1771-1820), was ordained second minister of the Associate [Burgher] congregation in Selkirk on 17 April 1771. In 1806 he received a Doctorate in Divinity from Marischal College, Aberdeen. He died aged 71 on 21 February 1820. His sons George and Andrew also became secession ministers at Selkirk. Reverend Andrew Lawson (d 1836) succeeded his father as third minister of the Associate [Burgher] congregation in Selkirk on 1 June 1824, following a vacancy of four years. In 1816 he had been ordained at Ecclefechan. He died in 1836. Reverend George Lawson (d 1849) succeeded his younger brother, Andrew, as fourth minister at Selkirk. He was ordained as first minister at Galashiels, East, Associate [Burgher] congregation on 4 November 1806 and left for Bolton, Lancashire in September 1809. He became second minister at Kilmarnock, Portland Road Congregation in 1818 and in 1837 was translated and inducted at Selkirk. He died on 15 December 1849. Reverend John Lawson, his nephew, and son of Reverend Andrew Lawson (d 1836) declined a call to Lilliesleaf and became the fifth minister at Selkirk in 1850.
