ActivityThe National Union of Railwaymen was formed in 1913 by the amalgamation of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, established 1871, the United Pointsmen and Signalmen’s Society and the General Railway Workers’ Union. The Union represented the interests of its members in relation to pay and working conditions. It became part of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) in 1990.
