ActivityMaurice Lindsay (b 1918), poet and critic, was born on 21 July 1918 in Glasgow. He was educated at the Glasgow Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music. During the Second World War he served with the Cameronians and from 1946-1960 as a journalist and critic. In 1960 he became Controller of Border Television in Carlisle and from 1967 Director of the Scottish Civic Trust. He has edited numerous anthologies, magazines and editions as well as publishing his own poetry. His first collection was 'The Advancing Day' (1940).
