ActivityEvelyn Morison Center (fl 1929-1993), soprano and music teacher, was born at Rothiemay, Aberdeenshire. She married Ronald Center (1913-1973), musician and composer, in 1943. In September 1929 she began to study music and singing and was trained in Aberdeen and Glasgow. She became a well-known soprano. Following their marriage in 1943 Ronald and Evelyn moved to Huntly, Aberdeenshire. In 1944 she was awarded the diploma of Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (Performer) in 1944. Following the death in 1973 of Ronald Center, Evelyn worked hard to achieve recognition of his works.
