ActivityThe Scottish Secondary Schools Travel Trust was established in Edinburgh in 1935 for the encouragement, assistance, promotion and operation of cruises and excursions for educational purposes primarily for pupils attending Secondary Schools in Scotland. The Trust operated cruises to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Germany and other destinations. Activities of the Trust were suspended in 1939 due to the outbreak of the Second World War (1939-1945). They were resumed in 1951. The Trust was wound up in 1998 due to a decline in cruises owing to an increase in fares and restrictions upon the destinations available.
