ActivityFrank Roydon Richards, MA Bmus Oxon Hon LLD, Glasgow (1899-1978), was the son of Frank Herbert Richards and Edith Alice Phillips. He was educated at Christ's Hospital; Queen's College, Oxford. He was awarded a 1st in Classical Modern, 1920 and 2nd Literae Humaniores, 1922. During the First World War he served as 2nd Lieutenant RGA. During 1922-1924, Richards was an assistant master at Glasgow Academy and at Christ's Hospital, 1924-1928. 1928-1932 he was Headmaster at Bridlington School, and from 1932-1959 was Rector of Glasgow Academy.After his retirment he devoted much of his time to the study of Linear B and especially the methods used by the decipherers of Hittite and other cuneiform scripts.
