ActivityThomas Lennox Gilmour, CBE (1859-1936), barrister, journalist, businessman and public servant. Gilmour was Private Secretary to Archibald Philip Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery, from 1884 to 1903. During the First World War he served as Secretary of the War Svings Committee, 1915, and was involved in war propaganda activities culminating in service as Assistant Secretary of the Department of Information, 1916-1917. He was secretary to the Rhodes Trust, 1916-1919, and a Director of the Trans-Zambesia Railway Company, established in 1919.
