ActivityDr Donald Currie Caskie, MA DD OBE (1902-1980), minister, was born at Bowmore, Islay, the son of Neil Caskie and Margaret Currie. He was educated at Bowmore HGS, Dunoon School and Edinburgh University, 1923-1926, and New College, 1926-1928. Caskie was awarded an MA, 1926, DD, 1945, and an OBE, 1945. He was licenced by the Presbytery of Islay in 1928, and was ordained and inducted in 1931 at Gretna St Andrews. In 1935 he became the minister of the Scots Kirk in Paris and he served there during the Second World War. He published a record of his experiences as, 'The Tartan Pimpernel'. In 1961 he moved to Shelmorlie and Wemyss Bay North and retired in 1968, although he was still invited to preach.
