ActivityJames Robertson, civil engineer, fl 1859-1890, his father, also James Robertson, was factor to Sir Patrick Murray Thriepland, Bart. Robertson had two sisters, Margaret and Jean, and a brother, Duncan Robertson, banker, Bombay, who was married to Margaret, née Brown. He was also related to a John Robertson who was in the Royal Artillery and was court martialed in 1875. Robertson worked on the construction of the Port Patrick Railway, Ayrshire, 1859-1960, and then in India, particularly on the G I P Railway at Nagpore, Central Provinces. He returned to Scotland in 1870 and became a partner in the Milnwood Iron Works, Motherwell.
