ActivityCharles Blythe became tenant of Barberfield Farm (Haddington?) in 1904 in partnership with his brother-in-law, William Millar, Draper, Tranent. In 1928, Blythe took on the lease of the neighbouring Heatheryhall Farm. Previously, he had been a farm overseer in Muirkirk, Ayrshire. Charles Blythe died in 1949, when the business passed to his sons and daughters including Jane Blythe (d 1976). The family purchased Barberfield and Heatheryhall Farms on the sale of the Clerkington Estate in 1951.
