ActivityThe National Gas Engine Co was established by Henry Neild Bickerton (d 1929) at the Wellington Works in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, England, in 1889. In 1907 the Company became part of Miles, Bickerton & Day, which Henry set up to produce diesel engines. At the time of Bickerton’s death the Company was one of the largest producers of gas engines and oil engines in the world.
