ActivityWalter Alexander began running buses in the Falkirk area in 1914. The company of W Alexander & Sons was formed in 1924. In 1929 W Alexander & Sons were acquired as a subsidiary of SMT (The Scottish Motor Traction Co) and became the area company for most of the east of Scotland north of the Forth. In 1949 bus companies were nationalised under the control of the British Transport Commission (BTC), but Alexander’s continued to function as an operator. In 1963 the BTC was dissolved and in 1985 the Scottish Bus Group, its successor as holding company for Alexander’s, changed the company title to Midland Scottish Omnibuses Ltd.
