Activity | In 1938 the Carron Company let the site of the drift mine at Craigend, Falkirk, to the newly formed Craigend Brickworks. However, this was a difficult time to start a business as labour was scarce, and there was little demand for bricks. Consequently, the Works closed down in 1943. After the Second World War had ended the Craigend Brickworks were re-financed. The Company’s name was changed to Craigend Refractories Ltd in 1972 and then sold to Amalgamated Anthracite Holdings Ltd. |
