Person NameNorth-East Civil Defence Group Control Committee; 1962-1996
ActivityThe first meeting of the Joint Committee as to Civil Defence Group Control for the north east of Scotland was on 25 June 1962, attended by members of the Corporation of the City of Aberdeen and representatives of the county Councils of Aberdeen and Kincardine. It formed part of the Northern Civil Defence Zone. The County Clerk and County Treasurer of Aberdeenshire were to be clerk and treasurer to the Joint Committee, and the net expenditure was apportioned between the three authorities according to population. The Group Control centre was at Gordon School in Huntly, and there were area controls at Mintlaw, Inverurie, Portlethen, Stonehaven and Tertowie. Some of these control centres had medical advisors attached to them: the Medical Officer of Health for Aberdeenshire served as medical advisor to Group Control.
