ActivityGrampian Police was formed on 16 May 1975 from the amalgamation of Aberdeen City Police and the Scottish North Eastern Counties Constabulary (SNECC). The area covered by the force reaches from the Cairngorm Mountains in the west to the Moray and Aberdeenshire coasts to the north and east and covers 3,253 square miles. The force also has responsibility for policing offshore installations in Scottish waters. There are five Command Areas covered by the force. Three form the Landward Division (Moray, North Aberdeenshire and South Aberdeenshire) and two the Aberdeen Division (Bucksburn and Queen Street). Other divisions are Operational Support, Criminal Investigation, Headquarters and Strategic Development.
