Activity | John Gordon, a resident of Bervie, died in 1844 and bequeathed money to found a school for 'the reception and education of female children belonging to the poorer classes residing in the Burgh and Parish of Bervie, to be called Gordon's Female Charity School. The first trustees appointed were James Farquhar of Hallgreen; William Stewart, Sheriff Clerk of Kincardine; Alexander Smart, writer, Stonehaven; Robert Glegg, Bailie in Bervie and depute Town Clerk of Inverbervie; John Thomson in Sillyflatt and James Brown in Newbigging. |
