Person NameCarnoustie Music Club; 1968-1998
ActivityThe Carnoustie Music Club was established to provide music of an 'intimate' type such as chamber music, vocal ensembles, piano recitals, string quartets etc. They hired professional musicians to perform in thrice yearly concerts. They were partly funded by subscriptions, Scottish Arts Council contributions and support from Carnoustie Town Council. The Club closed in March 1998 due to a large fall in membership which reduced their ability to pay for professional musicians. The Club disposed of its assets and made a donation to the local primary schools for the purchase of musical instruments.
