Activity | Catherine Hollingsworth was born in Brechin in 1904. She moved to Aberdeen in 1941 where she began the first municipal children's theatre, the first Festival of the Spoken Word, both of which are still in existence today, and the Aberdeen Long Acre Players. She was also the superintendent of Speech Therapy and Training in the Education Department of the City of Aberdeen Council. She retired to Dundee and published her biography, 'Tilting at Windows', in 1991 and a book about her work in the children's theatre entitled 'Another Pied Piper?' in 1996. She died in July 1999. |
