Activity | Although golf was played regularly during the first half of the 1800s, it was not until 1877 that a golf club was established in Arbroath. James William Ramsay, 14th Earl of Dalhousie, granted the use of the links as a golf course which was inspected and laid out under the supervision of Tom Morris. The Earl of Dalhousie was the patron of the club from its commencement until his death in November 1887. |
