Activity | John Chalmers was born on 27 December 1843 at Blairgowrie. He was the son of George Chalmers and Catharine Aitken. He was educated at Blairgowrie Free Church School, Perth Academy, University of Edinburgh (MA 1864) and New College, Edinburgh. He was licenced by the Free Church Presbytery of Meigle in March 1870, and assisted at St Cuthbert's Free Church, Edinburgh, during 1870. He was ordained and inducted at Arbroath Ladyloan Free Church in October 1870, and translated to Stirling North Free Church in April 1877. In 1891 he married Agnes Thomson Drummond. He retired in 1911. |
