ActivityOn the night of 10 January 1913 the Dutch schooner 'Aefiena' was wrecked in Carnoustie Bay. The crew of nine perished with only Captain de Yonge, surviving. He spent the night lashed to the mast with heavy seas breaking over him. He was rescued at daylight by two Boy Scout leaders, Alexander Lamond and Arthur Simpson. De Yonge kept many photographs of the wreck and newspaper cuttings of the 'Aefiena'. He lost them all in a subsequent wreck in 1917.
