ActivityWilliam Shepherd, bookseller, stationer and printer of 39, Castle Street, Forfar, maintained scrapbooks of many of his printing samples covering the period 1858 - 1953. The samples include small posters and bills, calling cards, invoices and receipts, advertisements, notifications, reports, rules and regulations of local societies, testimonials, announcements, seed catalogues, dinner menus and invitations. There are a number of advertisements for fashion collections at local shops, with illustrations of the latest modes in dress, millinery and shoes. The fourth volume of the scrapbooks has a booklet advertising houses on a new estate at Broughty Ferry, with plans and illustrations, and the programme for a Coronation Day Dinner Dance in 1953. The third volume includes some colour reproductions of paintings.
