ActivityThe Angus Trades' Council is believed to have been formed by an amalgamation of the former Burgh Committees of Arbroath, Brechin, Forfar and Montrose after the end of the Second World War.Angus Trades' Council dealt with any issue that affected employment in the Angus area including closing of places of work, equal pay, education and training, the elderly, health and safety at work, disabilities, housing, building trade and transport. They would also discuss action to be taken including putting forward proposals, campaigning, demonstrating, meeting with local government officials or politicians and training of union representatives.The income of the Angus Trades' Council chiefly came from fees and donations from the various unions and workers' societies that it represented. It is affiliated to the Scottish Trades Union Congress.
