ActivityThe Ouchterlony family have lived in Forfarshire for over 700 years. Their estate of The Guynd lies on the banks of the Elliot Water in the parish of Carmyllie. John Ouchterlony wrote 'An Account of the Parish of Forfarshire' in 1694/5: this was part of a larger work concerning the Natural History and the Geography of the counties of Scotland, but was never finished. The last male descendant of the Ouchterlony family died in 1843 and was succeeded by a maternal nephew from the Pierson family of Balmadies.
