Person NameForfarshire Medical Volunteer Corps; 1918-1918
ActivityThough there was a strong history of regimental and general army hospitals, and though the Royal Army Medical Corps had been established in 1898 (from the Medical Staff and the Medical Staff Corps), many volunteers with medical training volunteered for separate Medical Volunteer Corps, particularly towards the end of the First World War. Many of these units were short-lived, serving a particular purpose, and like the Volunteer Corps which had preceded them before the organisation of the Territorial Army in 1908 the corps had strong local attachments.
