ActivityHarry Chapman was born in Carnoustie in 1896 and became a reporter in 1911. He co-founded the 'Carnoustie Gazette' in 1913 but was also a correspondent for the 'Dundee Courier' and other papers, finally retiring in 1977. Apart from having an interest in local history, Chapman was also a country dancer, tennis player and golfer, and a keen theatre-goer, contributing to 'The Stage' for many years. He broadcast commentaries on several major golfing tournaments. During both World Wars he was active in the War Savings movement, and in putting on entertainments to raise both money and morale.
