Activity | The Montrose Girls' Club was founded on 7 December 1914 by Miss Fraser of Kirkside. Club evenings featured songs, musical interludes, speeches and handicrafts. The objectives of the Club were pleasure, profit (i.e. personal) and patriotism. The Club was also involved in raising money for charitable causes such as the Red Cross and the Japanese YWCA after the 1923 earthquake. The Club ceased to operate in the 1960's. |
